We select AIDS news from around the Web, so you can quickly scan what's happening.

II. AIDS Treatment News Search Engine

The AIDS Treatment News Search Engine (above) does a Google search of more than 140 relevant, credible, HIV/AIDS sites, all free -- over 400,000 trusted Web pages searched for your request in about two seconds. Our search favors recent, non-promotional, registration-free pages, eliminating most hassles and junk. The sites we selected are listed on the right.

For example, try the following searches:

  • Obama
  • tenofovir prevention
  • "hepatitis C" prison

This search engine also works with a mobile phone or other device with Web access, so you can find AIDS information on almost anything from almost anywhere. If the info you want is in PDF or otherwise unreadable on your mobile phone, click Google's "HTML" link to read the text anyway. To make the searches faster, bookmark www.aidsnews.org/m (note "m" for mobile).

This search engine does not include medical and scientific journals, since there are better sites for those (see "Medical and Scientific Articles" below).

If you see only 10 search results per page and want more, you can increase that number for all Google searches from your browser (we prefer 50, to show a quick overview of what's available). Go to www.google.com, click 'Preferences', and scroll down. You can always change it back.

III. Special Database Searches

Most of these databases do not allow automatic indexing, so we could not include them in our search engine above. Instead we set up the following links, to provide recent, relevant information with one click.

Some of these searches return hundreds of items. Remember that your browser's own search can usually find a word or phrase you are looking for in all that text.

1. Recent HIV/AIDS Newspaper Articles:

Google News: HIV search in over 4,000 newspapers, etc. worldwide

Note: Also see our news blog of daily alerts selected by AIDS Treatment News, at www.aidsnews.org/now.

2. Medical and Scientific Articles:

Most of articles you will find here are written mainly for medical professionals.

The first two links below both search the same huge medical database of the U.S. National Library of Medicine, selecting recent, peer-reviewed articles with "HIV" in the citation or abstract. The first search only finds articles that offer full text free online. These are much more accessible to non-subscribers to the particular journal, and are often the most important articles. The second PubMed search selects the articles with a free abstract at least. The other three links will be useful for some readers.

Feel free to change our searches if you want to. That will not affect anyone else who is using this site.

3. HIV Clinical Trials Recruiting

4. Medical Dictionary

How to add the AIDS Treatment News Search Engine to your website or blog:

The link above goes to a Google page where you can customize the size and color of the AIDS Treatment News Search Engine box, for your webpage. When you have finished making changes (if any), click "Get the Code." Then you can copy and paste that HTML code into the HTML for your page, wherever you want the search box to go. Note Google's "Terms and Conditions for Webmasters."
